Casement windows open out past the exterior of the house on hinged stays attached to the top and bottom rail on one edge of the window sash.
We have several casement window series for residential and commercial use and they all use the same sections as their awning window variance - but using different hardware.
When closed, our casement windows have a double-seal between the sash and the frame providing low air-infiltration making them suitable for air conditioned buildings.
Casement windows are also fantastic for passive ventilation and should be used in applications where you can easily operate the window to its full extent.
Things to consider when choosing casement windows:
- The entire width of the sash can push open and extend beyond the exterior wall - this may not be suitable where there is a throughfare outside.
- Casement window sashes are typically fitted with cam handles which prevents using a fixed insect screen.
- To screen casement windows you will need either a pull-down retractable screen or to use our TRUTH™ hardware option. Both of these options can add considerable cost per casement window.
- Splayed or square beads are available for the sash to suit your aesthetic
- Sashes and sidelights will accept a variety of glass thicknesses from 4mm single panes to 24mm insulating glass units.
- The Series 616 casement window has been tested for compliance with the relevant Australian Standards and achieved a very high water resistance of 1000Pa
Our casement and awning windows both use premium quality stainless-steel stays which allow the entire window sash to pivot from the bottom rail out of the frame to a perpendicular opening.
