Nestled on one of the best beachfront spots on the Tweed Coast, the ‘House Behind the Dunes’ truly makes the most of its incredible location. Spanning three levels, each bedroom and living area offers its own special view of the ocean and Norries Headland.
Use of Series 616 fixed windows with a raked-head, the low-angle pitch of the structure is seamlessly followed, creating the effect of the roof hovering above the wall.
Our Series 704 stacker doors easily span 7 metre-wide openings to provide flow out to the spacious decks which extend the living spaces on every level, connecting the indoors to the beautiful dune landscape and pool below.
The use of Centor S4 retractable screens allows these expansive views to be enjoyed while keeping biting pests at bay.
On the ground floor, the decks blend into the dunes and pool area, while the first-floor outdoor space wraps around the northeast corner, creating the perfect spot for entertaining.
The house itself is bold and sculptural, designed to withstand the tough beachfront conditions and sometimes harsh weather. Selecting 316 marine-grade stainless-steel ICON™ handles on the doors and windows is essential for hardware longevity in this environment.
The minimalist design and sharp material choices are softened by moments of lightness and elegance, like the double-height entry foyer and the textured timber wall along the stairs. These elements are further enhanced from clever use of framed Series 613 double-hung and also sash-less double-hung windows which are integrated into our Series 400 commercial frames.
