Naturally Newrybar
This prime location in Newrybar, in northern New South Wales, provides a breath-taking panorama of the Byron Bay hinterland and coastline. Zaher Architect's brief was to design a house that captured the beauty of the landscape and capitalised on the hinterland and unobstructed ocean views. It was important the house connected the residents to their surroundings, make the most of the outside, and entertain, even on windy days.
The solution was to create a house that feels transparent by providing a seamless connection between the front and back of the house as well as opening up to the views. 704B Series stacking doors in a custom 5 + 3 Panel configuration, which span a massive 3m high x 9m + 6m continuous corner, achieves this goal by opening the living room to the outdoors. The FlowTHRU™ drain system provides a zero-threshold sill allowing for tiles to run flush from the inside living area to the outside entertainment space. Mitred-corner fixed glazing continues the seamless corner design language into the kitchen.
Liberal use of 525 Series Louvre Windows provide cross-ventilation throughout the house and 618 Series stacking doors provide outdoor egress from the bedrooms and access between the living room and sheltered pool area.
