Wollumbin House
Situated on an elevated residential block with suspended slabs and located in central Byron Bay, this award-winning home has uninterrupted views of the shire hinterland.
An impressive post-less 618 series in with flush sill and recessed head sections serves to enhance the living space by opening the entire 7.5m x 6.5 corner to the panoramic scenery. To suit Byron Bay's coastal environment, 316 marine-grade stainless-steel ICON hardware provides optimum accessibility for the windows and doors.
With a west-facing orientation, the house design incorporates shutters to dramatically decrease the heat ingress from the setting sun with gas-strut functionality to provide a full-opening to enjoy the views at any other time. In keeping with this gas-strut feature, a 2.4m wide custom awning window is positioned over the kitchen bench-top to create a unobstructed servery for the backyard entertaining/pool area.
In addition to the 618 series stacking doors in the bedrooms, 525 louvre modules; commercial frames with Altair gallery inserts and louvre-fixed-louvre units are used through the house to leverage the benefit of passive cooling and ventilation.
